As with all Gibsons jigsaws, we use 100% recycled puzzle board, FSC paper and work with the best artists from all around the world. The beautifully illustrated pieces are designed to fit perfectly together; in fact, we use the thickest puzzle board on the market. Everyone loves a Gibsons jigsaw, even Her Majesty the Queen has been spotted with one.
We’ve made some positive changes to our processes, so you can be sure you’re getting the same great puzzles and know that they are kinder to the environment. Not only do our new boxes have a fresh new look, but we’ve used biodegradable clear labels to secure the lid instead of shrink wrap to reduce our plastic waste. There is a gloss coating on the box for extra protection and the puzzle pieces are stored in a plastic bag that can be recycled by most councils.
About the artist
Jelly Armchair is a family run business comprising of two sisters, Cat and Liz.
Cat is the artist for all the Jelly Armchair designs, which is over 150 and counting! Each design is doodled or sketched in her sketchbook then hand drawn either in pencil or most often straight in ink. It’s then painted with either gouache or watercolour, scanned in. The puns are devised by Cat with occasional input by their Dad (genuine dad jokes), her boyfriend, and their family and friends.
The name ‘Jelly Armchair’ was inspired by Cat and Liz’s grandfathers. Cat and Liz’s Grandpa had an excellent sense of humour. When a joke had been told and the family had stopped giggling and started to regain composure, one by one people would turn and cast an eye towards Grandpa and realise that he’d gone bright red and was shaking with laughter, this would set everyone off again. It became known in the family as “having a jelly”. The ‘Armchair’ part of the name is a tribute to both their Grandpa and Grandad who were/are known for enjoying sitting in their favourite armchairs!

2019 marked 100 years since our founder, Harry Percy Gibson formed H. P. Gibson & Sons Limited. Now into our fourth generation with Harry’s great-granddaughter at the helm, we are proud of our British heritage and are still providing fun family pastimes for all ages 101 years on.
